Best remembered for his starring role as cowboy Cheyenne Bodie in the ABC/Warner Brothers western series “Cheyenne” from 1955 to 1963. Clint acted in numerous movies with costars: Frank Sinatra, Rock Hudson, Telly Savalas, Charles Bronson, Lee Marvin, Doris Day, Burt Reynolds and others.
Clint loved taking road trips to the desert, to camp and explore the terrains. He chose the Chevrolet Blazer and had it modified to provide the best equipment and upgrades for safety, long distance travel and durability. This vehicle, in its day, was as good as it gets for off-road adventuring. Clint was the only one to drive this vehicle.

Clint Walker meets Vic Hickey
When Clint’s new Blazer was ready for delivery, his friend, Tom Madigan (Journalist, Author and Top Fuel Drag Racer) introduced him to Vic Hickey (GM Designer of the Chevy Blazer, Off-Road Racing Pioneer, Off-Road Parts Designer/Retailer).
The result of their meeting was the new Blazer being delivered to Vic’s shop, where many Hickey parts were added and/or provided as an upgrade to an original part on the new truck. Clint’s Blazer became a “rolling advertisement” for Hickey parts! Clint was extremely pleased with the looks and capabilities of his new, custom-modified Blazer.

In January 1974 Blazer Used in TV Movie “Scream of the Wolf”
This made-for-television horror-thriller included Clint, playing the role of a big game hunter. Clint’s Blazer is seen parked at the hunter’s home, and in several screens being driven through the woods at night and stopped with Clint exiting the vehicle. Clint originally ordered his Blazer in silver paint, and this was its color in this film.
In September 1974 Blazer Used in New TV Series “Kodiak”
This new TV series revolved around Clint’s new character as an Alaska State Trooper named Cal “Kodiak” McKay. Clint’s Blazer was painted red for the shortlived series and the windshield was shot out and replaced 3 times during various episodes. The Blazer was shown in all openings and most other episodes. Clint allowed Vic Hickey (HE) to use photographs of the Blazer for his ’73 addition Off Road Magazine and ’73 HE Parts Catalog.
400 V8 Engine Replaced 350
In 1978 the original 350 V8 engine failed. One of the oil cooler hoses split, draining all the engine oil at highway speed, causing the engine to lock up. A low mileage 1976 400 V8 engine (6.6 Liter bored & stroked 350 CI engine) was installed as the replacement. Clint was pleased with the additional power that the 400 V8 provided.
The Blazer was never raced or driven hard. Clint claimed it always drove and handled well and served primarily as regular roadway transportation. In 1992 Clint retired the Blazer and purchased a new Dodge diesel truck with larger load and towing capabilities. The Blazer has since been parked on his property in Grass Valley, CA.
Since Clint and his wife Susan’s passing, this vehicle has been inherited by his nephew, Paul. Paul flew to Grass Valley and had the Blazer shipped back to his home near Kansas City, MO. The Blazer has now arrived, and the work has begun to get Clint's Blazer running and restored to a road-worthy condition.
